Perfect Posture
Perfect posture is something that few of us can say we have in this modern, rushing society.
Modern life is the primary cause for our deteriorating posture. At least half of most peoples' days are spent sitting at a desk, typing in front of a computer, or sitting in their car, or sitting on a couch watching TV.
All of these things tend to make one's back and abdominal muscles weaker, as one is using a sort of crutch to assist them. They grow used to this slumped position, and, more seriously, the bones gradually shift to accommodate the "new" posture.
One's organs are connected to the spine by the nerve channels. As the spine shifts out of place, vertebrae can pinch and squeeze nerves, cutting them off and thereby harming the organs. Also, in a slumped or twisted position, the organs become squashed together and put in all sorts of uncomfortable positions. Needless to say, this isn't good for you!
So, what can you do about this? After all, it's not as if most people can simply give up using the computer and the car.
Well, as a first step there are exercises that one can do by oneself to help the body's natural healing cycle, and relieve the symptoms of pain and discomfort.
Here is one for you to try yourself:
Sit erect, interlock fingers at shoulder level, elbows out to the sides. Starting at the chin, rotate fully to one side, then the other 10 times once or twice per day.
This, whilst appearing almost too simple, is of great lasting benefit to your back and your general health. It promotes correct posture – and best of all, can be done at the office in just a minute or two.
Naturally though, the best solution would be to see a Chiropractor, who can assist the spine to return to its natural alignment, and give you some real relief.
